Welcome to the National Week of Prayer for Dementia 12th-19th March 2012.  It is a week devoted to prayer and awareness of dementia - a time to think about and pray for people who live with dementia.  Also a time to remember those who have passed away and still have a place in our hearts.

In 2009 the Pastoral Care Project was inspired to create a Day of Prayer for Dementia.  The response has been so great that it has grown into a Prayer and Awareness Week.  This will provide an opportunity for more people to hold an event around their own weekly calendar.

Bishop David McGough is the newly appointed Lead Bishop for the Pastoral Care Project.  Introducing the forthcoming event Bishop McGough said,

"I am pleased to commend the national week of prayer and awareness for dementia.  We live at a time when there is, thankfully, a growing awareness of the issues surrounding dementia.

Few of us can imagine the isolation, and consequent anxiety, that this affliction brings both to those who suffer and their families.  Through prayer let us ground ourselves in our communion with the Lord, making ourselves one with the many who suffer and those who care for them."

On this website you will find information about the history of the Day of Prayer for Dementia, prayers, presentations for schools and a "In memory of" page.

Prayer Cards are available to order from the Pastoral Care Project.

We would love to hear how you celebrated the Week, please email us at pastoralcareproject@gmail.com.
