St Joseph’s Junior School, NuneatonThe Project was invited to give an assembly in St Joseph’s Junior School, near to the first Day of Prayer for Dementia on 19th March 2009 the feast of St Joseph. It was great to have celebrated the first day in a school bearing the name of the saint and for them to be part of the initiative. The Manger and a Volunteer, who is a retired music therapist, introduced one of the Project's resources SINGING Cafe. This PowerPoint Presentation helped to deliver the message of "the value of singing and its effect of the brain and the senses" not just for people with dementia, but for everyone. The Project's song composed by Glenys Roberson for the Day, "I Have Loved You", was introduced and the children happily joined in. The outcome was wonderful. As a result of the children hearing about the work of the Pastoral Care Project, they raised funds and sent a donation of £150.00, which obviously reflects the children's interest and compassion.
